Portrait Heidi Jost-Stucki

Photographer: Heidi Jost-Stucki

Heidi Jost-Stucki, born on March 11, 1961 in a small village called Oberurnen in the
foothills of the Swiss Alps, detects her flair for creation and art during her handcraft
education in the late seventies. Shortly thereafter Heidi discovers the beauty of
nature through the long-lasting friendship with her today's husband Urs, a frenetic
amateur biologist. In these days Heidi makes the formative experience of the endless
creativity and deepness of capturing the nature by photography. She is convinced of
the working philosophy, that in order to capture nature on a picture, you ought to know the
interrelations in the relevant natural habitat. Numerous courses and personal contacts
with biologists, herpetologists and ornithologists have developed her skills and helped
her to experience nature through photography in a much more intensive way. Heidi's
unconditional concern is to create a real image, which displays the untouched and
undisturbed reality, a touching picture that lives. This often needs hours of patient
waiting and observing in order to fusion with and become part of the natural environment.
Until today Heidi Jost-Stucki remains an enthusiastic, passionate and warmhearted
handcraft teacher in Central Switzerland, where she is an actively engaged member of
the local community life and government. Over the last two decades she conducted several
regional and local projects together with youngsters to promote and realize near-natural
environments, where many of the creatures and subjects captured in her photographs have
found a new natural habitat.
